As part of a £360 million upgrade at the facility, the Ministry of Defence awarded Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure a £23 million package of drainage and utilities works to disperse surface water quickly and efficiently from the air-side paved surfaces.
The scope of works delivered by the team included:
Northern side of Station surface water drainage;
Foul sewerage network for new and existing buildings;
Construction of Waste Water Treatment Works;
Construction of long sea outfall;
Construction of northern service road;
Provision of aircraft blue waste collection facility and potable water supply;
Installation of fire hydrant system to serve new infrastructure on northern side of station.
